Winner of the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival, the new film from Fatih Akin (Head-On) presents a complex interweaving tale that crosses between Germany and Turkey. When widower, Ali, invites a prostitute, Yeter, to move in with him, his son Nejat initially disapproves until he discovers that the money is going to pay for her daughter, Ayten’s university education in Turkey. Ayten, meanwhile is on the run from the Turkish police and has been taken in by the smitten Lotte in Germany. With an interweaving story and fractured time structure, Akin delivers on the promise he has shown to establish himself as one of the most important young international filmmakers working today.
