Three ambitious yet naive filmmakers Justin, Dana and John move to Brooklyn intent on making a revealing documentary about clashing factions of inner-city life. Justin follows the day to day lives of two NYPD officers while Dana's portion focuses on Thomas, a black youth poised to move up from the hardships of low-income living. As the filming progresses, both the subjects of the documentary as well as the filmmakers are confronted with challenges that cloud their objectives. Stories merge, relationships corrode and the filmmakers can not remain impartial observers, but instead become active participants in the underground world they set out to observe. This Audience Award-winning film from Slamdance examines the sometimes problematic relationship between documentary filmmakers and their subjects within the framework of a gritty urban thriller.

I saw the film and plan to see it again but with some friends. I was entertained but also provoked and I left the theatre feeling that we do have such a long way to go with how the media treats racial issues. The acting of the kids was outstanding, but it's sad to think that so many black youths face the challenges for real every single day of their lives. Movies are not meant to give the answers but should ask the questions. I totally got this film and appreciate the fact it did not preach to me. Racism is so real in this country and there are a so many people that try to ignore it. This film tried to shine a tiny light on a very bad subject that is woven into the fabric of this country . Thank you to all the people involved in this film for a wonderful piece of work. Good luck and I look forward to your next piece of work.
