In a remote village in Northern Zambia, twenty-three women learn the art of filmmaking as a way to speak out about their lives and challenge the local traditions which have, until now, kept them silent. Many in the group are illiterate, most of them are desperately poor, few have been exposed to film or television, but with the help of two teachers, and a charity funded project the group produces a film and presents it to thousands of people across their community. Their film recounts the moving, real-life experiences of Penelop, an 18-year-old AIDS orphan. By sharing her story, Penelop, and her fellow filmmakers, help lift the veil of silence around an issue which has touched the lives of countless people in their community.
