Georgia Films/Narrative Competition
Awakening from an experimental surgery performed by his neurologist father, Ethan Galloway, suffering temporary memory loss, re-enters his life his past slowly becomes familiar, though not without a few changes. His dad has remarried, his mom has become an alcoholic, and his sister is dating his best friend. When Ethan finds a photograph of himself on the beach with a beautiful girl whom he can not recall, he begins a journey to fill in the missing pieces of his past despite the apparent efforts of his friends and family to keep it from him. I Am the Bluebird plays out like a taut mystery. As Ethan learns more about his past we must question whether his memories are real or imagined, whether his friends and family are trying to protect him or are covering up a more sinister truth. It is also a portrait of a fractured family, shattered by tragedy and needing to heal in a way that no surgery can bring about.
African/African American/Civil Rights/Human Rights/Opening Night
The Opening Night Gala is presented by Turner , and sponsored by Film Finish and Macquarium . VIP Reception hosted by Amnesty International Based on Howard Zinn’s groundbreaking, best selling books A People’s History of the United States and Voices of a People’s History of the United States chronicled the rich history of dissent in our country, presenting the story of America through the eyes of those rarely heard in mainstream histories. Prior to a speaking engagement at the University of Georgia in 1998, Howard Zinn explained that he had set a goal of starting a "quiet revolution" when writing A People’s History: "Not a revolution in the classical sense of a seizure of power, but rather from people beginning to take power from within the institutions. In the workplace, the workers would take power to control the conditions of their lives.” A People's History, a stubbornly dissident work, has become a major success: it’s sold over a million copies; been adopted into the curriculum of some high schools and colleges; and received the Prix des Amis du Monde Diplomatique. Told in a series of live readings and reenactments featuring performances by Hollywood A-listers Josh Brolin, Marisa Tomei, Danny Glover, Jasmine Guy, Viggo Mortensen, Kerry Washington, Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, Sandra Oh, Sean Penn, Rosario Dawson, Don Cheadle, and musical performances by Bob Dylan, John Legend, Eddie Vedder, Chris and Rich Robinson, and Bruce Springsteen, this unique film pumps up the volume of Zinn’s “quiet revolution.” In Attendance For Opening Night Gala*: Josh Brolin Eddie Vedder Michael Ealy Jasmine Guy Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes) Chris Moore Howard Zinn Pre-Screening: VIP Reception Hosted by Amnesty International (Must have Premium ticket to attend) Post-Screening: Opening Night Gala Party at The Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University Opening Night Gala Ticket Info *Subject to Change

THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS Review

Grant Heslov directed this 1.5hr comedy that was based on journalist/author Jon Ronson's 2004 book of the same title which chronicled Ronson's investigations into the U.S. Army's attempts to use psychic abilities.

This wacky satire starred George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, (scene-stealing)Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey, Robert Patrick, and Stephen Lang - a competent cast that turned in wonderfully hilarious amusing performances that began with Stephen Lang trying(with dire [...]
Review: A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Disney's A Christmas Carol  in Disney Digital 3-D.

Robert Zemeckis wrote/directed this 1.5hr 3-D-animated movie-adaptation of Charles Dickens' 1983 novel.

In Jim Carrey's first appearance in a Disney movie, he played Ebenezer Scrooge plus the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. The Ebenezer Scrooge animated character received more attention/detail compared to other characters in the movie - paying close attention, you will notice the uneven trea [...]
