Neshoba tells the story of a Mississippi town still divided about the meaning of justice, forty years after the murders of three civil rights workers, an event that was dramatized in the Oscar-winning film, Mississippi Burning. Although Klansmen bragged openly, no one was held accountable until 2005, when the State indicted and convicted Preacher Edgar Ray Killen, an 80-year-old notorious racist. Interweaving new and archival footage, the feature-length documentary paints a picture of Neshoba County, using the murder case as a barometer of what has changed for blacks and whites since 1964. Through exclusive interviews with Killen, the victims' families, and a diverse group of black and white Neshoba County citizens, the film explores whether the prosecution of one unrepentant Klansman is justice sufficient to erase the stain of the past and promote racial healing.
